After launching luxury tourist trains that cover a region or some popular tourist destinations in a state, Indian Railways now has its eyes set on Pan-India luxury train in collaboration with Cox & Kings.
According to the reports, Indian Railways is in the final stages of negotiation with Cox & Kings to start a pan-India luxury train. The collaborative venture, where both Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and Cox & Kings will have an equal share will cost around Rs 35-40 crore. The luxury train aims to have a circuit cutting across India unlike other luxury trains, which cover destinations in just one or two states and host nearly 100 high-end passengers who can spend USD 400-500 per day. The time frame for the launch of this train is yet to be decided.
